Antimicrobial Properties, Cytotoxic Effects, and Fatty Acids Composition of Vegetable Oils from Purslane, Linseed, Luffa, and Pumpkin Seeds

In the present study, antimicrobial and cytotoxic activities, as well fatty acids composition in vegetable seed oils from linseed, purslane, luffa, pumpkin were evaluated. For this purpose, two linseed one luffa oil commercially obtained, while purslane obtained own cultivated seeds. The results showed a variable among tested oils, with α-linolenic, linoleic, oleic, palmitic, stearic acid being most abundant compounds. regards to particular rich source of α-linolenic acid, linoleic presented balanced an almost similar amount both acids. Luffa was effective against cancer cell lines, namely HeLa (cervical carcinoma) NCI-H460 (non-small lung cancer), it also moderate toxicity non-tumor cells (PLP2 line). Regarding antibacterial activity, 3 highest activity bacteria (especially Enterobacter cloacae Escherichia coli) MIC MBC values used positive controls (E211 E224). All significant antifungal especially oil, for fungi they more than controls, example case Aspergillus versicolor, A. niger, Penicillium verrucosum var. cyclopium. conclusion, our study promising properties studied which could be partly attributed their composition, long-chain ones 12–18 carbons.
